Grant Measurement Workshop - Win with Charities@Work!
Performance metrics, when properly designed, enable funders and grantees to easily collect data that prove the value they are generating – and help identify opportunities to improve that value.
Attend the 2014 Charities@Work Summit and participate in six separate chances to win a seat to True Impact’s online Grant Measurement Workshop Series (which you can use for yourself, or give to one of your nonprofit partners).
How to Win
Several drawings will be held throughout the conference, each giving attendees a chance to win a measurement training workshop seat. To qualify for the first drawing, simply complete the survey question on the left (which will also be used to help conference organizers craft a mini measurement-related session during the summit).
What You'll Win (Series Summary)
This series of three, 90-minute interactive webinars provides your grantees with training and one-on-one support for developing practical key performance indicators (KPIs) for their social services and community investments (which can then be reported back to you and other funders). Sessions include:
- Session 1: Initial Model. In our first session, we introduce the basic principles of measurement (i.e., what, how, and when to measure), and present a framework and guidance for creating a Strategic Logic Model (i.e., by defining a program’s goals, objectives, and strategies; then assigning input, output, and outcome performance metrics).
Homework 1: Participants establish KPIs for one of their own programs (using our web-based Strategic Logic Model module), and submit it for evaluation and feedback by True Impact consultants (provided to grantees prior to Session 2). Estimated time requirement: One hour.
- Session 2: Refinement. The second session focuses on workshopping the group’s Strategic Logic Models. We begin by addressing the most common issues we identified during homework review, and then move into a group question and answer session. The session ends with an introduction to data collection instruments (to be addressed in Session 3).
Homework 2: Participants, if necessary, resubmit their Strategic Logic Models with refinements for a second round of feedback by True Impact consultants. Participants then upload any data collection instruments (e.g., new or existing survey or assessment tools, or studies being used as resources for extrapolation) for evaluation and feedback (provided to grantees prior to Session 3). Estimated time requirement: 30 minutes.
- Session 3: Data Collection Instruments. This final session presents guiding principles for developing and using data collection instruments, followed by a group workshopping session of instruments submitted by the group. We also address any residual questions from prior sessions or homework.
